What is the WoTS-badge?
“WoTS-badge”, is the exhibition gadget for the industry branch Industrial Electronics of FHI for this years’ show. The WoTS-badge is a display of 85 LEDs which you can simply pin on your clothing. The WoTS-badge can display a large variety of texts and animations.
What can the WoTS-badge do?
During the exhibition, WoTS-badge can display your name and company or a funny or explanatory animation. After the exhibition you can use it the same way or it can serve on your desk as clock with alarm function.

How can I program the WoTS-badge?
The WoTS-Badge app is a freeware app made by Salland Electronics (Android, IOS and Windows) and is a handy tool to program the WoTS-badge. On your smart phones’ screen, you can simply input texts or draw pictures. The WoTS-badge connects to your smart phone via the new Nordic nRF52832 Bluetooth 4.0 LE chip.

The app can be obtained through the normal channels and is free of cost. All the help functions are integrated in the app, so no external info is needed nor available.
The WoTS-badge PC- and online application
Programming the WoTS-badge is also possible via a USB cable and a PC-application. Eurocircuits made an online application to prepare animations and an offline PC application to upload them on the WoTS-badge. The PC-application can also handle the text input and clock and alarm settings.

What is the battery up-time and how to load?
At normal usage, the WoTS-badge has a battery life of approximately 8 hours. Charging it again through USB takes 10 minutes.
Can I interfere in the WoTS-badge software?

What are the specifications of the WoTS-badge PCB?
The PCB of the WoTS-badge is a 1.6mm thick, 4-layer board with the following specifics:

- Outer layer start Copper: 18 um
- Inner layer start Copper: 35 um
- Material Tg: 150 Celsius degree

- Internal Pad Isolation: 0,375 mm

On top of the assembled PCB we mount an over lay PCB to disperse the LED light evenly so the text and images shown are perfectly readable. This over lay board is held in place by 4 press fit pins.
The PCB is graphically enhanced by using the Eurocircuits PCB PIXture technique. This option in STANDARD pool allows to integrate images/photographs in the solder mask. More on this here.
