Gerber Formats

Gerber X3 – Effectively & Efficiently Bridging the Gap between CAD & CAM

Gerber format is the de facto standard file format for printed circuit board (PCB) data transfer from designer to manufacturer.

The introduction of Gerber X3 is another huge step forward allowing for the full PCB data including Board and Assembly information to be exchanged securely and efficiently in a simple ASCII format.

In addition and subject to CAD vendors ambition, X3 would allow for the transfer back of data modified by the manufacturer (board and or assembly) to the CAD system. Thus keeping the Designers CAD data base inline with manufacturing.
