Practical tip: Design for manufacturing with spring-loaded pins
Cordless landline telephone or needle bed adapters are typical applications for spring-loaded pins, known as Pogo Pins. These come in a wide range of shapes and designs which makes them an excellent choice when a quick and reliable electrical connection is required that can also be easily released.
The advantages of spring-loaded pins is their ability to compensate for unevenness of the opposing contact surfaces and vibrations, and achieve at least 10,000 mating cycles.
