Joanneum Racing Graz: The JR25

As the JR25 season comes to an end, Joanneum Racing Graz looks back on another year of dedication and achievement. As a Formula Student team with a proven history of success, we once again united students from engineering, design, and business at FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences. Together, we pushed the boundaries of automotive innovation and strengthened our commitment to shaping the future of mobility.

Our Successes with the JR25

The JR25 season marked a historic milestone for Joanneum Racing Graz. For the first time since entering the EV class, we secured two overall victories in a single year. At Formula Student Austria, our home event, we claimed the top spot after a strong showing across all disciplines. Just weeks later, we repeated this success at Formula Student Czech Republic, finishing the season with another overall win on the international stage.

These achievements are the result of countless hours of dedication, teamwork, and innovation. Staying true to our motto “Never Stop Pushing”, we continue to refine our designs, optimize performance, and pursue excellence with the goal of remaining at the forefront of Formula Student competition.

Eurocircuits: Long-Term Partner in Excellence

For several years now, Eurocircuits has been a trusted companion on our journey in electric mobility. Their support in producing high-quality printed circuit boards (PCBs) has been instrumental in bringing our concepts to life and ensuring the reliability of our race cars’ electronic systems. With their precision manufacturing, fast delivery times, and unwavering focus on quality, Eurocircuits has consistently enabled us to push the limits of performance and stay competitive at the highest level of Formula Student.

This season once again, we were able to rely on a range of PCBs provided by Eurocircuits, which played a key role in our success on and off the track.

Goal 2025: PDU Development

One of our primary development goals this season was the creation of an in-house Power Distribution Unit (PDU) – a key component in the electrical architecture of our race car. The PDU is responsible for providing all necessary power supplies throughout the vehicle, ensuring stable and reliable operation of every subsystem. Beyond power delivery, it also incorporates essential functionalities that enable basic driving operations, making it a cornerstone of vehicle control.

A major strength of our design lies in its modular structure. By building the PDU in a way that allows for easy expansion and adaptation, we have laid the foundation for continuous innovation. This means that as new ideas, sensors, or control strategies emerge, the system can be upgraded without a complete redesign. In doing so, we not only enhance current performance but also future-proof our platform, enabling Joanneum Racing Graz to keep pushing the boundaries of electric race car development in the seasons to come.

Our achievements and innovations this season would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our partners. Companies like Eurocircuits are essential to our success, ensuring that we can transform ambitious concepts into reliable systems on the racetrack. Their expertise and commitment provide the foundation that enables us to keep driving innovation forward while celebrating outstanding results in competition.
