Bern Racing Team Collaboration Season 2022/23

Bern Racing Team is the association that supports the students of Bern University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland participating in Formula Student competitions. Together with 56 team members, we created our new electric race car called “Nebula” for the season 22/23.

Goals

Last season was our first really successful season with a driving car. We based our new car on the previous one to keep on this momentum and the knowledge gained on the systems developed. For this season, one of the main focuses was on the reliability of all electrical systems. Last year, we had multiple problems with the printed circuits and the assembly. We identified every point which could be improved on the electrical side from the last car and then had specific points to improve.
To solve those issues, we are also glad to partner with Eurocircuits and rely on their precision assembly procedures. We have also gained precious time during which the members could be focused on the software side.

Results mid-season 22/23

We were glad to have a driving car in June, which enabled us to have some testing before the official Formula Student events! We could fine-tune the car and be prepared for the technical inspections in time.

We started with our home event in FS Switzerland at the beginning of July. We passed all the technical inspections and could race against the other teams. The car was already running fast and could get many podiums. We finished the event as 3rd Overall place, the first time in our history!

We headed to Italy for our second event, and we were also successful. We managed to finish many times in the top ten and could get up to 5th for the Skidpad out of 30 teams!

The next events will be in Republic Czech and Croatia in which we hope to have great results too!
