Delta Racing Mannheim

Delta Racing Mannheim is a project with over 30 students from a wide range of disciplines who have set themselves the goal of developing and building their own electric vehicle. With the DR21-E we managed to successfully participate in the 2-year season 2019 to 2021 at the RIMAC FS ALPE ADRIA 2021 and present our car at the competitions.

The DR21-E incorporates various circuit boards, which are all proprietary developments of our team and were manufactured and assembled in collaboration with Eurocircuits. In addition, Eurocircuits supports the Delta Racing electric Team with the quality and reliability of the circuit boards, in order to significantly reduce possible sources of error.

An overview of the circuit boards used by us:

There are 10 AMS slave boards in our battery, which collect voltage and temperature data in the battery and send it via a data bus to the AMS master. The master evaluates the data and gets a picture of the battery’s condition. In this way, it controls the main relay for the high-voltage supply and thus ensures that our battery supplies the inverters and thus the motors reliably and safely with voltage. Likewise, the precharge and discharge boards ensure that the inverters charge properly and discharge again after a successful drive.

In the vehicle itself, the sensor board, the I/O board and the dashboard serve to collect data in the vehicle. The data from the numerous sensors installed are processed in a microcontroller and transmitted to the vehicle control system via a CAN bus. With the help of this data, various actuators are activated. For example, a pump is switched on when the engine and inverter cooling reaches a certain temperature limit so that the cooling capacity increases and the temperature moves back into the optimum range.

The circuit boards produced by Eurocircuits are all 4-layer multilayer circuit boards, equipped with microcontrollers and many other small components – the end product circuit board is therefore a work of art, which impresses with its outstanding quality in production and assembly.

With its circuit boards, Eurocircuits thus forms the electrical foundation in our vehicle, which thus drives quickly and safely over the track.
