FS Team Tallinn
FS Team Tallinn 2024 season
FS Team Tallinn is a Formula Student team from Estonia. The team consists of students from Tallinn University of Technology and Tallinn University of Applied Sciences. This year we are developing our team’s 17th formula student car, named FEST24. It’s our 12th electric car and 2nd, that is capable of driving with a driver and driverless. With FEST24 we aim to build upon the success of our previous competitors and achieve even better results.
One of the main goals this season is to increase the reliability of the car, due to some issues last year. Especially regarding electronics. A much bigger emphasis is put on the design and testing process, to eliminate errors earlier. Eurocircuits also greatly helps us in achieving this with their high-quality PCBs. We used Eurocircuits PCBs for the first time last year and were really impressed with the quality and quick delivery times.
Another goal this year is to improve our sensor and data acquisition systems. We aim to start measuring the suspension forces on our car using strain gauges. For this we are designing a strain gauge amplifier, that can read multiple strain gauge measurements. It’s also connected to the main CAN bus, for easy data logging. The resistance change of strain gauges is minimal, in the range of milliohms. To achieve accurate measuring results, a high precision circuit needs to be designed. Als factors like EMC and impedance matching need to be considered and taken into account in the design. Eurocircuits impedance calculator can be used for the latter.
