FST Lisboa – Eurocircuits: Last Season Recap & 2023/2024 Outlook
Our 2022/2023 results did not come without an organized collective effort towards the same goal. The past season FST Lisboa achieved all time high results for the team, having scored Top 1 in both DV and EV in FSPT, Top 1 and 2 at DV and EV in FSS, respectively, and most notably Top 3 and top 9 in FSG’s DV Cup and EV Cup, respectively.
Knowing perfectly well the potential FST12 had, we knew we had to invest as much as possible on testing. So that is what we aimed for every day: to make the car ready for the test track and to accomplish our testing goals.
Getting a Formula Student car up and running is never an easy task. All the electronics require extensive testing until we achieve a reliable system. Not only do we never have to worry about lead times, but we also can rely on PCB data processing which Eurocircuits provides for our designs before each one of them goes on to production, ensuring even further the integrity of our PCBs.
2022/2023 Season: Goals and Achievements
For the 12th FST Lisboa’s 12th prototype, our major goal was testing time and getting to know the car. That meant having a robust, reliable car that would enable us to make more and more kilometres and spend less and less time troubleshooting problems. Thankfully, with the team’s efforts, FST12 was able to get to that stage before our first Formula Student competition of 2023, leading to great results and being the first prototype from FST Lisbon that completed every dynamic event of the season.
After the 2023 summer, back at the workshop, we put FST12 again on the test track to keep on testing, gathering data, getting to know the car, training the new team members, and evaluating our new design ideas. Post-competition testing is crucial for the success of the next prototype. After compiling competition data logs and running our simulations, we knew how to get the performance to take our prototype on to the next step. Thankfully, this year, we have once again the support of Eurocircuits to get this year’s prototype up and running, ready for testing as soon as possible.
Major challenges ahead:
Fitting a prototype with first time designs always requires a lot of project managing diligence, taking major cautions to ensure that at the end the car is up and running, ready for the competitions and already with quite some testing. For that, we know that we can count on Eurocircuits, which gives us time to take risks when there is little to no time to waste in a typical Formula Student season.
