HAWKS Racing 2022/23

HAWKS Racing e. V. is the Formula Student Team of HAW Hamburg. We develop a racing car within a year and compete against other university teams in various disciplines.

In the 2022/23 season, we produced “Nayra”, our 18th and second electrically powered car. One of our goals was also to drive autonomously for the first time.

All of the circuit boards installed in the car were developed by us and therefore perfectly tailored to our needs. In particular, we have fundamentally revised or even developed new circuit boards this season.

We are very grateful for the support of Eurocircuits, as we were able to order our critical circuit boards from them and rely on their quality and reliability.

Among other things, we ordered circuit boards for our Accumulator Management System, which monitors the cell voltages and temperatures in the battery, the Power Distribution Unit, which takes care of the power supply to the circuit boards in the low-voltage range and protects them, and a Driver Interface Unit, which controls a display and safety-critical LEDs in the cockpit of the racing car.

Thanks to the possible further development of our electrical system, we took first place in the efficiency category at FS Austria, which crowns the team’s hard work.

The time after the events was used to put our autonomous system into operation and so we were able to successfully drive autonomously for the first time with H18 at the end of October 2023. A major milestone for us!
