Joanneum Racing Graz – The JR24

What comes next?

We are thrilled to announce that Joanneum Racing Graz has won the overall title in the Formula Student Netherlands 2023, beating some of the best teams in the world in the electric category. This is a huge achievement for our team, and we are very proud of our hard work. This was a big win for Joanneum Racing Graz but we are not resting and are already working on our next car, the JR24, which will be even faster, lighter and smarter than our previous one.

One of the key factors that makes our car so competitive is the quality and reliability of our electronic components. We design and build most of them ourselves, using state-of-the-art technology and materials. And for that, we rely on Eurocircuits, our trusted partner for PCB manufacturing. Eurocircuits provides us with high-quality PCBs for various safety systems, our self-developed SiC inverter, our high-voltage battery and many other parts of our car.

JR24

For the JR24, we are redesigning many of our electronic components, including our high-voltage and low-voltage batteries, our inverter and our electric wiring harness. Our goal is to reduce weight while increasing functionality. To achieve that, we are again decentralizing our electric system, which means we will have more control units but less wiring. One of the most important components for this strategy is our analog-to-CAN converter. This device will be placed in areas where we have many analog sensors and will digitize their signals to send them to one of the eight CAN buses of our car. Eurocircuits is the perfect partner for manufacturing such PCBs, as they offer a wide range of options from simple 2-layer boards to complex multilayer boards with defined-impedance traces.
