LiU Formula Student: New Tractive System Control Unit

LiU Formula Student is the Formula Student team from Linköping, Sweden who each year design, build and race our own car. Currently we consist of around 130 students across multiple programs and ages. The electronics team in the organization is responsible for all electrical parts of the car, which includes designing multiple circuit boards that together make it perform at its best. This task would be impossible without the help from Eurocircuits, who provide us with our PCBs.
This year we have a goal to make our car perform better and more reliable than our previous car. To accomplish a part of this, a brand new tractive system control unit has been developed. This control unit manages parts of the high voltage system inside of our custom 600V battery pack. A part of the changes from last year include new isolated ADCs which can accurately measure the voltages of the battery pack as well as the output from the battery. This then allows for more advanced datalogging, safer operation and an overall smaller footprint.

The initial testing of our systems looks promising and we can’t wait to see them perform on track this summer. Thanks to Eurocircuits for making our project possible!
