New Milestones for the BME Formula Racing Team: Meet Lara

New milestones in the life of the BME Formula Racing Team – introducing Lara
In our next article, we would like to share with you everything that has happened in the life of our team, the BME Formula Racing Team. We have made huge progress in recent months, the chassis is completely finished, so we could start assembling our race car.

We received a lot of new parts for the electronic system from our sponsors, including printed circuit boards manufactured by Eurocircuits Kft., which our electronics team immediately installed. Meanwhile, our team responsible for the electric drive train prepared and tested the battery and assembled our own motor control system. They also prepared a completely new battery car for the season.
In the mechanical department, we installed the chassis, steering system and brakes, so we now had a mechanically roadworthy race car in front of us. Among the aerodynamic elements, the side boxes, rear cover and main components of the front and rear wings have been completed and are currently being assembled, so the car will soon have a complete aero package.
During software development, we completed our own vehicle simulation and lap time simulation, which help us objectively compare different settings and strategies. We have also reached a milestone in the development of the self-driving system: we have completed the development of the MPC, our EKF system is ready and we have also started commissioning the driverless computer network.
In June, we participated in the Formula Student Easter preparatory competition, where we finished as the best Hungarian team in the static events. The highlight of the summer was the Rollout, where we officially unveiled FRED-004. Our guests were the first to see Lara, who is now the star of our team.

We are grateful to everyone who stood by us and helped the team’s work last season, but as we have already shared on our social media platforms, unfortunately, we were unable to compete in the Formula Student Germany competition this year. We had prepared a lot of new developments, but due to an unexpected electronic failure, Lara was unable to compete. At the same time, this gives us the opportunity to start intensive testing of the car sooner and achieve our goals for next season.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Eurocircuits for their support, which contributed to the completion of our race car. Together with you, we will come back stronger next season.
