PCB Design Workshop Robotics Erlangen

Supporting the Next Generation: A Hands-On Workshop with Robotics Erlangen
Experience, knowledge, and teamwork – this was the focus of a recent workshop at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Eurocircuits team member Uwe Dörr visited Robotics Erlangen e.V. and ETG Kurzschluss e.V. to deliver a hands-on PCB design training for motivated students.
From Multilayer Stackups to DFM Checks
The workshop covered everything from the basics of 4-layer multilayer PCBs to practical design rule checks using our PCB and PCBA Visualizer tools. Students learned how PCBs are made and what matters most in a reliable PCB design.
Custom Robots, Custom Electronics
Robotics Erlangen has been building autonomous football robots since 2007 to compete in the RoboCup, the world championship of robot soccer.
Each robot includes seven self-designed PCBs: five motor controllers, a kick controller, a mainboard, and a power distribution board – developed and assembled entirely by the students. For their latest season, the team needed over 100 boards in a short timeframe. Thanks to our support, they were able to produce and validate them efficiently.
The result: 3rd place at the World Championship in Eindhoven! 🏆
A fantastic testament to what student dedication, team spirit, and hands-on support can achieve together.

Practical Knowledge Makes the Difference
For over 20 years, Eurocircuits has supported schools and universities across Europe – not only with PCBs and assemblies but also with practical workshops and online tools that help students gain hands-on experience and avoid design errors.
We do this with great enthusiasm and firm belief – because today’s students are tomorrow’s engineers, colleagues, and customers.
