Rennschmiede Pforzheim – The RSP23
We are the Rennschmiede Pforzheim, the Formula Student Team of Pforzheim University. Our members come from all faculties of our university: Engineering, Design, as well as Business and Law. Every year, we build an electric race car with which we participate in the international events of the Formula Student during the summer. This season, we competed with our third electric vehicle RSP23 “Amethyst” at the Formula Student Austria, the Formula Student Czech, and the Formula Student Alpe Adria.
The highlights of the electronics this season are the self-developed main control unit and our first proprietary BMS (Battery Management System). The main control unit, which evaluates both analog and digital sensors in the vehicle, communicates with the vehicle drive using EtherCAT. Additionally, there is an Ethernet interface that transmits all vehicle data and is used for information analysis. The BMS is the heart of our high-voltage battery, monitoring the high-voltage range there and controlling the safety system.
With the support of Eurocircuits, we were able to realize these projects. Using the Eurocircuits Impedance Calculator, it was very easy to determine how lines requiring a specific impedance should look. The circuit boards manufactured by Eurocircuits ensured that the drive of our race car functioned reliably, and we were always able to ensure safety in our high-voltage system.
The manufacturing of the circuit boards by Eurocircuits was always fast, reliable, and of excellent quality. We are very grateful for the support from Eurocircuits and look forward to collaborating in the upcoming season.
