Introduction
The Enclosure service which allows you to add a Customised or Standard enclosure to your order in which your PCB(s) will be mounted.
A Standard enclosure is simply as we receive it from the manufacture and a Customised enclosure is a standard enclosure modified to your specifications inhouse by Eurocircuits.
The type of modifications available are:
- Machining (holes, slots, cut-outs etc.)
- Direct Digital Printing (labels, logos etc.)
Data and Information Required
If you require a standard enclosure, then no additional information is required.
If you require a customised enclosure, then please supply the following information with your order:
- Detailed drawing with dimensions for all cut-outs.
- Detailed drawing with dimensions for the location of all printing.
- Information on the required colour of the enclosure (preferably with the RAL number).
- Any other relevant information to ensure the enclosure can be customised to your requirements.
This information will be used to create the necessary tooling information for the machining and printing of the enclosure.
A graphical representation of the customised enclosure will be available in the 3D Viewer available via the Enclosure Visualizer tab (see below for more details).
Getting Started
First Sign In to your Eurocircuits Customer Account.
The PCB or PCB & Assembly data that the Enclosure will be linked to must already be saved to your Shopping basket.

An enclosure can be added/ordered in the following ways:
- Add as a Standalone Shopping basket item.
- Add to an existing Shopping basket item.
Add an Enclosure as a Standalone Shopping basket Item
If your PCB needs to be within an enclosure you need to know the following before you start the layout of your PCB.
In addition, need to know the following:
- External Dimensions of the enclosure.
- Internal dimensions of the enclosure.
- Available mounting point locations.
- IPR (ingress Protection Rating) if applicable
This will enable you to define the contour of the PCB and the placement of any components that will need to be aligned with cut-out and holes in the enclosure.
First, select Enclosure from the CALCULATE AND ORDER menu on the left-hand side.
This will open the Enclosure explorer window (see below for more details).
Next follow the steps in the Finding the Right Enclosure below.
Add an Enclosure to an Existing Shopping basket Item
From your Shopping basket select and open the appropriate job in either the PCB or PCBA Visualizer.
Next click on the Enclosure tab at the top of the window.
This will open the Enclosure explorer window.
Next follow the steps in the Finding the Right Enclosure below.
Finding the Right Enclosure
Using the Search Option
If you know the reference number of the enclosure you want to add, simply type or paste it in the search box in the top left of the Enclosure window.
Then click on the magnifying glass symbol in the right-hide side of the search field.
The enclosure will then be displayed in the panel to the right.
Using the Filters
This will open the Enclosure window where you can search for a suitable enclosure by either the enclosure number or using the available filters:
- External Dimensions (Width, Height, and Depth)
- Ingress Protection rating (IP)
- Material (Aluminium, ABS, Polycarbonate, PC etc.)
- Colour
After adjusting the appropriate filters click on the Apply Filters button in the bottom left to apply them.
You then view the available enclosures based the filters applied on the type:
- Connector Enclosures
- Desktop Enclosures
- DIN Rail Enclosures
- General Purpose Enclosures
- Handheld Enclosures
- IoT Enclosures
- Subrack Enclosures
The number of available enclosures of each type will be displayed in the bottom right corner.
View an Enclosure
To view any of the enclosures simply click on the type.
This will open a new with a list of all the enclosures of that type that match the filter settings.
You also adjust the filter settings in this screen on the left and navigate back to the previous screen by clicking on the back button in the top right-hand corner.
To view one of the enclosures, click on the Green MPN number in the left column.
This will open a window with detailed information about the enclosure with images.
Detailed Information about the Selected Enclosure
There are 6 sections in the detailed information window:
- Graphical images of the Enclosure
- Downloads
- Dimensions
- Characteristics
- 3D View button
- Pricing, Data Upload and Proceed to Summary
There is also a breadcrumb navigation at the top left to allow you to easily see which enclosure section you are in (type) and allows quick navigation.
Graphical images of the Enclosure
To view different perspectives of the image, click on the thumbnail images below the main image.
Click on the main image selected to have a larger view of the image in a popup window.
Downloads
Various file types may be available for download to help define the shape and size of the PCB and cut-outs that may be required.
To download related data including drawings and DXF files for the enclosure click on the required file in the Downloads section.
This will download the file to your computer in your default download’s location.
Dimensions
This section provides the external dimensions of the enclosure (W x H X D) and the IP rating.
Characteristics
This section provides the colours, material, RAL and operating temperature of the enclosure.
3D View
To view the Enclosure in 3D, click on the 3D View in Enclosure editor button in the Interactive Enclosure editor section.
This opens the 3D viewer where you can:
- View the enclosure in 3D and 2D
- Rotate the enclosure in 3D
- Explode the enclosure
- View individual faces/sides of the enclosure
- View the machined faces as per your specification
- View the PCB either bare board or assembled in the enclosure
- Plus much more…..
Pricing and Data Upload
This section allows you to select the quantity of enclosures you require and the number of sides that need to be machined per enclosure.
It automatically provides a price based on these 2 parameters.
If you have a Design file or Detailed Drawing file for the machining of the enclosure you can upload in this section either by Drag & Drop or Browse and select the file.
Proceed to Summary or Add to Basket Button
The steps for saving the selected enclosure to your Shopping basket will depend upon whether it is a standalone enclosure or added to an existing Shopping basket item.
- Standalone follow the Add to Basket procedure
- Save to an existing basket item follow the Proceed to Summary procedure
Add to Basket
Click on Add to Basket button in the detailed view of the selected enclosure.
You will be asked for Confirmation, click Yes to confirm (No will take you back to the Detailed View).
If you click Yes, a new Shopping basket item will be created.
Adding PCB and Assembly Data
Once you have saved the selected the standalone enclosure to your Shopping basket you can then add PCB and Assembly data if required.
From the Shopping basket select the appropriate standalone enclosure by either clicking on the Enclosure Visualizer label in the item row.
Alternatively, you can check the Check box at the beginning of the item row and then click on the Modify button in the menu above.
Either of these will open the Enclosure Visualizer window.
You can now click on either the PCB Visualizer or PCBA Visualizer to add PCB and Assembly data as required.

Once you have uploaded the relevant data click on the Summary tab and make sure the Add to cart checkbox is checked, then click on the Save changes button to save and add the data to the Shopping basket.
This will save and add the data uploaded to the same Shopping basket number as the enclosure.
Proceed to Summary
Click on the Proceed to Summary button in the detailed view of the selected enclosure.
This will open the Summary tab of the Visualizer.
Make sure the Add to Cart box is checked for the Enclosure row and click on the Save changes button.
A confirmation popup will appear asking you to confirm that you want to generate the basket without a file.
Click Yes to save to the basket (No to return to the Summary tab).
The selected enclosure will be saved and added to the Shopping basket item.
Placing Your Order
Ordering the Standalone Enclosure
From your Shopping basket check the box at the left of the item and click on the Proceed to checkout button above.
IMPORTANT
- If you require a customised enclosure, please ensure the relevant data files are uploaded before you submit the order.
Next check the details and click on the Submit button in the top right of the window to place your order.
Your order is now submitted.
Ordering an Enclosure with a PCB/PCB & Assembly
From your Shopping basket check the box at the left of the item and click on the Proceed to checkout button above.
IMPORTANT
- If you require a customised enclosure, please ensure the relevant data files are uploaded before you submit the order.
Next check the details and click on the Submit button in the top right of the window to place your order.
Your order is now submitted.
